My
Story

My name is Brian Frontella. I am a personal trainer at Cali Form Fitness & Strength Studio. I
was born in July 1962 in Merced, I live on a small ranch near Santa Nella with my wife of 30
years, my son and our 2 boxers.
I attended Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose, studied animal science at Merced College
and aviation management at Utah Valley University. I was in the Marines and the CA Air
National Guard. I am a retired Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Deputy. I am a Certified Flight
Instructor and Certified Personal Trainer and nutritionist.
I became a personal trainer after I was injured in the line of duty. I had broken my wrist and
torn all the cartilage in my right shoulder. After multiple surgeries on my wrist and shoulder,
and 6 months of physical therapy, I was told I would not regain full use and motion of my right
arm and wrist. I was forced to retire from the Sheriff’s Office.
Refusing to accept that diagnosis, I decided to educate myself in Kinesiology. I became a
certified personal trainer and a certified nutritionist. My certifications, I include classes on
physiology, exercise for the elderly, and training with injuries.
I became my own physical therapist. It took 3 years, I regained most of my range of motion
in my shoulder. All of my progress was through proper exercise and strength training.
As I progressed through my therapy, I became interested in natural bodybuilding and fitness
competitions. To compete you must never have taken steroids, growth hormones or any other
type of growth enhancers. I competed in several natural bodybuilding and fitness shows. I
earned 1 overall champion, 2 first places and 2 second places.
Exercise and good nutrition is beneficial for everyone. Exercise and nutrition needs to be
personalized, we are individuals with specific needs. One size does not fit all. Benefits from
exercise and proper nutrition are not achieved overnight, it’s achieved through consistency. You
have to commit to a lifestyle, not a fad diet or fad exercise program. You can exercise, eat well
and still enjoy life.
I specialize in strength and flexibility training for the elderly and those with injuries or
disabilities.
The hardest part about exercising is getting to the gym.
